artist at work

The cold weather hasn't really set in but we aren't doing as much of this these days.  I love to let Lillie try different activities but my Type A tends to get in the way for stuff like this.

getting outside

I'm not sure how much more time we'll have like this outside before the cold sets in here in Florida.  I know it only lasts for, what, 2 months but I sure do enjoy that warm weather.  And I really love taking pictures of my kids outside because they usually come out so clear and crisp...and show how absolutely beautiful they are.

C is for cookie

First of all, ignore the mess in our living room.  It's not that things are always so neat and tidy around here but Lil was close to the end of this crazy week long, throw up, have diarrhea in the middle of the night bug.  We spent the whole week at home doing nothing more than disinfecting and trying to keep fluids in Lillie.  Thankfully no one else got it.  It sure didn't stop her from being Duncan's entertainment committee though.

Have to go now

Hopefully this isn't too hard for you to understand.  Little Mama is telling Baby Brother that she has to go (do what, play with toys?!) and that he should stay with mommy and play with his toys (that she just ripped away from him).  I know what she's saying because she's mimicking what she hears from me.  Oh dear.

So glad

Lil often tells Duncan, "I so glad you!"  I love catching her facial expressions that show how glad her little brother makes her.

Duncan- 2 months old

Here is Duncan at 2 months old wearing a few pieces passed down from his daddy.  Next month I'll make sure not to take pictures right before bedtime.  He screamed the whole time.

At 2 months, Duncan is:
15 pounds, 85%
24 inches, 97%

He doesn't like the idea of boys wearing a gown, I guess

I couldn't catch the cute little puff on top of the hat but I was just happy to catch him not crying

Oh come on, Gilligan

This is obviously an old picture, but I love seeing my buddies together.

He's here!

Okay, so he's been here....for a month and some change and he's so absolutely precious.  I woke up about 5 am on that Sunday morning and didn't even think that those odd cramps could mean anything.  I'm still not sure what I was thinking then.  I even tried to send John to church because I was too scared to be that wife that cried "labor" only to still be pregnant at the end of the day.  Thankfully, we have some wonderful friends at church who came by around 10 to take Lillie with them.  John and I arrived at the Birth Cottage at 10:30 am and he was born soon thereafter.  It was just that easy!   Psssh.

Now that he's already 1 month old, I'll try not to be a month late in posting some 1 month pictures.

Daily delivery

Each day when John heads out to get the mail he has a little shadow following him to the mailbox.  He pulls out the mail and hands it to Lillie and then becomes her follower so that he can catch what she drops on the way back.  Even if she only ends up with one piece left at the end of the trip she's still super excited to deliver it to me when she gets back.  Her sweet smile sure makes getting a hand full of bills much more pleasant!

Daddy's very own barista

John usually drinks a lot of coffee during the week.  So when we hear him coming down the stairs from his office, Lillie gets in coffee mode and gets ready to help.    Sometimes she gets to turn the coffee maker on but Daddy always needs her to cool his coffee.  What would he do without her?

Summer is a comin'

The truth is that summer is already here for us.  It has been blazing hot for a few weeks now and we look for any chance to play in the water.  Even "Baby" needed to cool off on this day!

Rock-a-bye baby

It's so special to see Lillie caring for her baby dolls, but very hard to catch on camera!  Here's a short clip where she's singing the nursery rhyme "Rock-a-bye baby" to put her doll to sleep.  It tends to come out "rocky....treetops!" and is just absolutely so sweet.  She also loves to play "Ring around the roses" at church with all of the other girls.  They make it look so fun that you can often find a boy or two (and even adults) joining in.  And, of course, everyone has to fall down at the end.

Dis and Dat

I still haven't come to grips with the fact that I will never be a routine blogger. So I consider you a very good friend (or more likely an obsessed grandmother) if you are still reading this blog. I'm not going to give up on it just yet. I take too many pictures to just let them sit on my hard drive.

In family news, I'm almost 32 weeks pregnant with a boy (due July 21st)! All of us, including Lillie, are super excited about a little brother coming along. We haven't completely decided on a name either. Things are just much more laid back with this baby.

Lillie is at the point where her language is developing every day. Her hilarious vocabulary inspired this post. Actions and objects these days are described as being either "dis" or "dat" and "me do" everything. She loves to sing along to nursery rhymes by starting out with one syllable and simply holding it until the next phrase of the song. It's so off key, but absolutely the sweetest thing! She also adores babies (which makes it hard to tell her, "Lillie, I know you love the baby, but it can't breathe") and even my belly. Many people ask if she understands that I'm pregnant and I don't really know to what extent she understands, but I have observed how much she adores my belly, calling it baby, and I look forward to seeing the bond that she develops with her little brother.

We have had a lot of fun with friends lately too. Since I only have pictures of her on the potty (which hasn't been very successful yet) and pictures with her friends, I decided on showing you the latter. I'll save the others for when potty time is a little more encouraging.

Tea party time with the Fetterly girls, who will sadly be moving away this summer. Jeneva is only 6 weeks younger than Lillie.

First baseball game with Jack...she didn't watch a bit of it, but made sure to cheer when everyone else did. That's my girl!

LaLaLa

This video is a few months old and Lillie's language has really developed a lot, especially recently. I had to post this because it just makes me laugh to hear (and see) her say her name!

Yoohoo...anybody there?

Sorry about disappearing on ya'll. I promise we haven't been sitting around hiding. We've been up to plenty of stuff. Honestly, the only reason I'm blogging right now is because my mother keeps threatening me. So here ya go, Grammy! I hope this picture suits your fancy. Truly though, I do hope to update you all soon.

Big shoes to fill

Lillie loves to put just about any pair of shoes on her feet. Our shoes are the easiest to slip on because they're so much bigger so that's usually where she heads first.

Lillie language

In the past few weeks Lillie's vocabulary has really blossomed. We are having a lot of fun realizing that she has learned a new word. I'm not really sure if these words are common first words for children, but they're word/things that Lillie comes across a lot and, thus, has learned how to express her favor for them.

Like...

"tee?!" or "pee" please
"dit-dee!" thank you
"mowa?!" more
"shheeewwwss" shoes
"pri-ey" pretty
"ball-ball" ball
"ah-pull" apple
"goo-kee" Cookie Monster
"op!" up

Of course, no matter how much I encourage her to say dog she still uses "arf" for dog. Who would want to say the word when they could just make the noise?
